PJM Build Ledger
Every power plant that came online in the PJM grid since January 2015, where it is, who owns it, and how much electricity it has generated each year since it switched on.
All electricity generated by new PJM plants since 2015, by fuel
Every plant that came online since January 2015, of any size. Each block is a fuel, sized by the net generation it produced; inside it, each tile is one plant. Hover a tile for the plant, click it to open the plant on its tab.
By fuel
The same totals as a table.

Electricity generated by plants built since 2015
Net generation reported to EIA-923 per year. Each bar adds up every plant on this tab that was running that year.
Where they are
Each dot is a plant, sized by capacity and colored by technology. Click one for its owner and what it has generated each year. The map follows the search and filters in the plant table below.
Who owns them
Parent owners ranked by capacity added. Click an owner to see their plants.

From everything built to PJM's 23 GW
PJM says about 23 GW entered service since 2020. Starting from every new unit of any size, each step removes something PJM's figure leaves out and keeps every step above it.

Every plant, and what it generated each year
Gigawatt-hours of net generation by calendar year. Blank years are before the plant came online or have no EIA-923 report. Click a row for ownership detail and its source.
How this was built
- The plant list is every generator that EIA-860M (September 2026) places in the PJM balancing authority with a first operating date from January 2015, including the few that have since retired. Capacity uprates of existing units are left out. EIA tracks generators of 1 MW and up, so rooftop solar is not here.
- A plant is one EIA plant ID. The two tabs split plants at 5 MW of nameplate capacity; a plant of exactly 5 MW is on the larger tab. Units added at a plant that already ran before 2015 are tagged "added at a pre-2015 plant" and can be filtered out.
- Generation is EIA-923 monthly net generation through August 2026. Where a new unit shares a plant with older units of the same type, it is credited with its share of capacity for each month it was online.
- Owners of plants of 20 MW or more were researched against press releases, regulatory filings and project trackers, with a source link on each. Smaller plants show EIA's equity owner where reported, otherwise the operating entity. Ownership changes often; each record says when it was checked.
- Plants whose reported interconnecting utility sits outside PJM, mostly community solar in Ameren Illinois territory, are flagged on the map and in the plant detail, and drop out of the reconciliation.
